Columbus Ohio Schools & Colleges
Columbus is home to the second largest university campus in the U.S.,
The Ohio State University.  Also located in Columbus are Capital University and its notable law school, Central Ohio Technical College, Columbus College of Art & Design, Columbus State Community College, Denison University, DeVry, Franklin University, Mount Carmel College of Nursing, Ohio Dominican, Ohio Wesleyan, Otterbein College.

A return to neighborhood school assignments and passage of a school operating levy has helped spark the first significant increase in enrollment for Columbus Public Schools in over 20 years, a sign that the city is becoming more attractive to families. Several large public school districts can be found in Central Ohio, some have excellent reputations with school district report cards to prove it.  There are also several notable private schools, both religious and secular.

Columbus Ohio Businesses
The headquarters of several large businesses are located throughout Columbus and Central Ohio. 
Nationwide Insurance and Huntington Bancshares are headquartered in the Downtown area.  Located in Dublin are the headquarters for Cardinal Health and Wendy's International Inc.Limited Brands, the parent company of retailers Express, The LimitedVictoria's Secret and Bath & Body Works, is located on the east side of Columbus, while retail headquarters for Too Inc. and Abercrombie and Fitch can be found in the New Albany area.  Also headquartered in Columbus are White Castle, Bob Evans, American Electric Power and Wothington Industries.

Along with these headquarters are corporations that have a major presence in Central Ohio. 
Honda has its North America plant in Marysville, northwest of Columbus.  Both Bank One and J.P. Morgan Chase have major hubs throughout Central Ohio, which are sure to be bolstered by their 2004 merger.  Budweiser, McGraw-Hill, Chemical Abstracts and UPS also have major operations here.

Transportation
Though Columbus does not have a metro or other form of rail system, it does have an extensive public bus service called
Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA).  Airports servicing Columbus include Port Columbus International, Rickenbacker International, Bolton Field and Don Scott (run by OSU).

Central Ohio Attractions & Museums
Downtown Columbus is home to the
Columbus Museum of Art housing collections of European and American art up to early modernism, Franklin Park Conservatory host of 1992's Ameriflora expedition and  a scale replica of the Santa Maria commemorating the 500th anniversary of the discovery of America.  Columbus is also home to a renown science musem, Center of Science and Industry (COSI), as well as the Ohio Historical Society, a history museum.

The Ohio State University also hosts its own museums and exhibits including the
Wexner Center for the Arts and the Ohio State University Athletics Hall of Fame located in the Schottenstein Center (home of OSU's basketball and hockey games).

The famous
Columbus Zoo is directed by Jack Hanna, who has frequently appeared on national television, the Tonight Show and Late Night with David Letterman.

Columbus Sports & Entertainment
By far, the team attracting the most attention in Columbus are the Ohio State Buckeyes, 2002 NCAA football National Champs.  Another longstanding sports team is that of the
Columbus Clippers the Triple A farm team of the New York Yankees.  Newer to the Columbus sports scene are the Columbus Crew (Major League Soccer), Columbus Blue Jackets (Major League Hockey) and the Columbus Destroyers (Arena football). 

Two major annual events are the
Arnold Classic, a fitness exposition held in late February hosted by Arnold Schwarzenegger, and the American Quarter Horse Congress held in October.

The Columbus Music Scene
Columbus' major concert venues include
Nationwide Arena (also home to the Blue Jackets  and Destroyers), Schottenstein Center, and during warmer months, the Germain Amphitheater (formerly Polaris Amphitheater) .  Medium sized venues iclude the Capitol Theater, the Ohio Theater, the Palace Theater (home of the Columbus Syphony Orchestra), the Southern Theater, Veteran's Memorial Hall and PromoWest Pavilion.  A smaller, but well-known local, venue is the Newport Music Hall.  Newport is known as "America's longest continually running rock club."
